That's pretty big depending on what you have to work with machine-wise.

The .wmv file should be significantly smaller than the .avi. Is it? And
does IT (the .wmv) play OK in WMP as well?

Start>All Programs>Accesories>System Tools>System Information:
The first screen will show you how much memory you have, and what's
*available* at the moment both physical and virtual. Once you detemirmine
those numbers you can then go to the left hand pane and expand
components>storage>drives and see how much *free* HD space you have to work
with.
