"video device already in use" stops MMaker video capture

I have Windows XP MCE runnin on a Toshiba Laptop. The hardware includes a TV tuner card that is properly installed. However, when trying to capture video with Movie Maker, I am told that the "video device is already in use" and therefore, capture cannot be done. As far as I know, I have no other video devices running (as far as task manager tells me). Is there a way to get around this problem? Thanks.
