I have matching Netgear wireless router and laptop PC card, each
running at 108mbps. Both scream when talking over the 'net. However,
when I try to access a shared folder on one machine from the other
(doesn't matter which direction) it takes very long to connect and
show the contents in a folder (long as in minutes). Once the
conenction is made, file transfers are lightening fast. The
connection strength is maxed out. I am currently not running any
security (I kknow, bad idea, but I gotta get this fixed first). Works
like lighting when using the wired connection, only drags when
wireless.

I don't get it...ideas?

Do you have any mapped drives? Sometimes when you access a share,
windows scans all of the shares that its mapped to, if it can't connect
to one for some reason it will cause a long delay.

Check this out.
