I am trying to update my BIOS on my Gigabyte GA-8I945P-G mobo. I try to
update my BIOS by using the Q flash BIOS utility as it says in my manual.
When I go to update BIOS from floppy, the green LED light from the floppy
appears, then it gives me an error message: "Access Floppy Disk Error"

Can I update the BIOS through Windows and running the file from its
location? Or how can I fix this "access floppy disk" error message?

The floppy diskette may be faulty. Format it and copy the
bios file. Repeat the Q-flash bios process, per instructions
from the motherboard manual.

Your manual does not state what you've indicated.

I quote, directly from my Gigabyte manual: "Q-flash is a Bios utility
embedded in the Flash rom. With this utility, users only have to stay in
the BIOS menu when they want to update BIOS."
WTF are you talking about referring to windows, XP or otherwise?
Yes, one can update the bios through windows. At this point, considering
your post, am afraid to tell you how. No, its not through Q-flash.
Highly suggest staying away from updating any bios until you can read,
comprehend, and follow instructions.

??? To use the Q-Flash Utility, the last time I checked,
there must be a functional floppy disk with the correct
bios version. Because the Q-Flash Utility is started from
the bios screens, it is doubtful that the bios can be
flashed from a bios update file, as asked by the OP, in
Windows itself.

Well, Johnny, as of tonight your comment of "the blind leading the blind" is
making you look really stupid now.

Thanks to the other poster who said the issue my be due to a faulty floppy
gets the praise. The issue was due to a bad diskette and now the BIOS is
fully updated.

I highly recommend you keep your mouth shut until YOU can read, comprehend
and follow what someone is asking in this group!!

Boy, don't you look like a jackass now.

Funny, I don't feel like one, in light of your original question context.

Well, I don't blame you because how can you know? You're an idiot and don't
get it.

I am also having this problem in receiving the "Access Floppy Disk Error". I
am trying to use the Q flash BIOS utility to update the BIOS on a Gigabyte
GA-8I945P Pro mobo. I have tried multiple floppies and two floppy drives
borrowed from other computers and known to be functioning.

I have also removed one of the RAM sticks, as I read on another forum that
this could cause problems. By the way, the RAM sticks were a matched pair of
Kingston 5400 512 each. I also have not attached anything to the mobo (e.g.
usb, pci cards) other than the PCI-e video card, Seagate SATA2 drive, NEC
CD/DVD, floppy drive and 1 stick RAM. While this may not affect the BIOS
update, I have minimized connections to the mobo in an attempt to install XP
x64 OS.

I'm neither a computer tech (obviously) nor do I play one on TV. No flames
please. Anyone know of another solution?
