If I try to position the mouse cursor then use the back buton to delete a
letter or words then delete and then use the Enter or the Back button the
mouse cursor behaves oddly sometimes . The Enter to move to the next line
doesn't work properly and using the Back button to go back then behaves funny
, by removing some letters and/or something else odd . Once I deleted some
letters of words I mistakenly wrote and three capital letters were left down
the left margin . I use CA Antivirus and Windows XP Home Edition is kept
pretty clean .
I've been using IE7 Beta2 but something similar but not quite as bad
happened in IE6 .

If you uninstall IE7 B2P (and you don't reinstall it), do the problems
persist?

First try uninstalling via Add/Remove Programs. (Make sure Show Updates box
is checked)

If IE7 isn't found there, try the following, compiled by/courtesy of MVP
Sandi Hardmeier:

Run the commandline

%windir%\$NtUninstallie7bet2p$\spuninst\spuninst.exe

(replace %windir% with the path to your Windows folder, most often
c:\windows). Make sure view hidden folders is enabled via Control Panel,
Folder Options.

or

Go to the key

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer

Right click on Internet Explorer > New String Value > Name that value
InstalledByUser (the value of the new String should be your User Account
name) > Uninstall IE7 via Add/Remove Programs.

Beta testers of IE7 Public Preview are asked to post their comments to
microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general newsgroup.

thanks very much PA Bear .
I'll come back here to check up later .
Odd this too , when I changed my profile I used an apostrophe and it
became 2 apostrophes when I read the loaded communities name in this forum ,
and then I tried to remove one of those 2 apostrophes and they became 3
apostrophes . Then I tried removing 2 of the apostrophes and now there should
be 1 apostrophe in my communities name and 1 apostrophe in my signature . All
together there should be only 2 apostrophes . I'm not kidding !
Um , my keyboard came with a driver but I think the driver was so I could
have hotkeys or something , there is no documentation . I did use this driver
in OE6 , I don't know why , I think I was tring to see if the typing errors
in OE6 happened with the driver installed and the problems did happen with
the driver installed in OE6 .
And tose 2 apostrophes in my signature that I see now that I am typing this
post , should appear as only 1 apostrophe in the post you read this message
in because I have just edited my profile to show only 1 apostrophe in my
communities name !!

thanks PABear ,
Iposted in the Outlook Express section and I was told I might have a
corrupted or something , identity so I changed the Outlok Express identity
and the email writing is going without any problems so far . I kept the IE7
Beta 2 link and I will post there if I have another problem with OE6 .
Thankyou .

YW.

To avoid such problems in future:

- Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local
folders created for this purpose.

- Empty Deleted Items folder daily.

- Disable Background Compacting [N/A in SP2] and frequently perform a manual
compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at
http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm.

- Do not attempt to close OE via Task Manager or shutdown your machine if
Automatic Compacting is taking place (WinXP SP2 only).

- Your anti-virus application's email scanning feature can also cause
corruption. Disable it. It provides no additional protection.

PABear - I think your advice in your last post here is to keep the
Outlook Express profile from becoming corrupted by keeping Outlook Express
cleaner . I will try to remember the tips . I haven't had the problems I
described after I followed instructions to create a new Outlook Express
profile .
Thankyou

This is a general question about erratic cursor problems on all programs
since the download of IE 8. My computer has a synaptic touch pad. Prior to
downloading IE8, my cursor would only open icons/items when I clicked on
them. Afterwards, my cursor seems to have a mind of its own, and opens items
seemingly at random, or simply when the cursor passes over an item. I'm
constantly closing items I don't want opened, and I'm also having problems
highlighting and erasing highlighted text. I uninstalled IE8, and it helped
only a little. I'm now back to IE 7, but the improvement is only slight. I
went to Control Panel - Mouse and followed the procedures, but nothing seems
to work. All I want to do is go back to my being able to open an item only
when I click on it, and to be able to highlight and delete a highlighted
section of a document. What do I do? - Ken
