Hi,

i was in the process of trying to get rid of user
accounts on my computer, but i accidentily made a
mistake... i disabled all user accounts, and when it
comes time to login, i am not allowed since i do not have
a user account to login with. it displays 'user account
disabled'.
what are my options to login to my computer, since i am
now locked out?

Peter,

Try pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del twice and logging on as 'administrator' with the
password you assigned when you installed WindowsXP/first purchased your
computer.

Even when disabled, the built-in Administrator account
can always log in using a safe mode boot. Note that this
account may have been renamed, but just log in with what
is its current username. You can then use the toolset to
remove the disable from other accounts.

Turn your computer off. Restart, when you begin to see the start-up process begin press the F8 key. When the screen stops activity use the up or down arrows to go to manual mode, press enter to continue start-up. The computer will then go to a black or blank desktop with your program icons on it. Go to the start button, click control panel, click user accounts. You should now be able to create a new user account using a name not already used. Make this account the administrator. Shutdown and restart computer. You should now see a user account in the welcome page with name you just created. Log in and this user. You can now access existing users and change their permissions.
