Hi - is there a way to customise the user accounts available to XP Home? I
have repeated got an issue where 'Limited Users' cannot save things due to
there privileges, usually when playing games. I am aware that they can save
stuff to their doc etc but when game playing they don't get a choice to
browse where they save stuff or open stuff from.

I don't want them to be administrators 'cos they are under 10 years old and
will accidentally delete/ install something by mistake.

Any help greatly received.

Thanks

Hi,

You have to use permissions to do this. Help:

HOW TO: Set, View, Change, or Remove File and Folder Permissions in Windows
XP

Hi Rick - sorry about the delay in replying.

I have had a look at your advice and it seems a bit drastick to allow read /
write / execute permisions for just one particular game - Age of Empires /
Gold ? Is there any way to just allow a limited user access to save items on
this one game only and not to change every limited user's permisions?

Thanks,

JB

Hi,

Doug's security console (the registered version) will allow per user
controls. It's mentioned on the site.
