used safe mode now external devices don't work

I went into safe mode to delete a virus, then went back into normal mode, or so I thought. Now when I start the computer I occasionaly get a message saying I'm in diagnostic mode. My cd drive and digital camera dont work. How do I fix this. Thanks

Hi,

Start/run msconfig, on the general tab switch from diagnostic to normal
mode.
