Use of Windows 98 disk on Windows XP system

I have just acquired a new system, running Windows Xp
Pro. I want to keep the data on my old system on the old
disk drive, but wanted to install the old disk
temporarily into my new system so I could copy data (like
photos and audio files) without having to transfer them
via cable.

The system sees the disk, but I have no disk drive letter
assigned, nor can i get to all of the data. Thereis no
volume name, and my only option is to convert to
dynamic. If I do that, it says i will have to destroy
data in order to convert it back.

is there no way to access the W98 disk on the WXP/Pro
system??

thanks...

lee
