Hi,

We work in a W2k-server environment with Active Directory. Our clients are
W2K en WinXP PRO(SP2).
In the past we just worked with users logging as a user defined locally on
the client. Since twe weeks now I'm transferring this to users defined in
active directory. Users login onto the domain as a user defined into Active
Directory.
This works fine...exept for one thing. Al these user ar members of the group
users in the AD.

When a client is online and loged-in onto the domain with its
domein-user-account he or she cannot use his USB-memory-stick. That means,
the stick is recognised correctly by the client-pc but the drive doesn't show
in Windows Explorer.

When the user is working off-line (but still with with his
domain-account!!!) the USB-drive shows perfectly in Windows-explorer.

I assume there must be some sort of group-policy that prohibits the use of
USB-memorysticks when online????

Does the user have any network drives mapped to either E or F? I've come
across the problem that the memory stick wants to take the next drive letter
after physical drives (C, D for CDROM), the memory stick would take E:,
without regard for 'taken' drive letters for network mapping.

Worked for me as soon as I disconnected the E mapped network drive. Looks like a bug with XP.
