USB Hub Fails

Win 2K/sp4 Pro

I just tried to use a USB hub (CablesToGo) on the system without success. I
tried several ports, cables, and another new hub. It starts out seemingly
like it is going to work, but then it eventually hangs the system and
requires a cold reboot. I have tried it with a Sandisk flash (512MB & 2GB
with U3 removed), a Logitec mouse, activesync with an ipaq, and so on. Same
symptom, works if the device is directly plugged into the USB port, fails
if same device goes through the hub on the same port. I tried it with and
without the power adapter.

I am returning the hubs and have ordered Belkins as replacements.

I just wondered if anyone knew of a obvious problem that caused the failure
rather than the hub?

Thanks

Mike
