Hello,
I have a new 80 gig Buslink external harddrive that is not
recognized when plugged into USB port. Since the driver is
supposed to be imbedded in XP I cannot find it. Any help
would be much appreciated.

I can't help you but I have been watching this site for weeks and I've seen
hundreds of USB devices that are not working despite having WinXP supplied
drivers. Many answers wrongly refer users back to the manufacturer, or to
other driver web sites, but some of thesedrivers are Microsoft written and
included in XP. Since Microsoft wrote them, only they can fix them. I have a
WD 120 MB USB/IEEE disk drive and a Canon CP200 printer that do not work
properly through USB connections on 2 different computers, but they work
fine on Firewire or direct connections.

IMHO SOMETHING IS VERY WRONG WITH THE WINDOWS XP SP1 USB program. RJB

It could also be a bad USB port. I had a USB device plugged into a front usb
port on my case, and my speaker fell off its mount and landed on the cable
plugged into the USB drive. It physically broke the top usb port and the
bottom one comes up with USB device ont recognized. However the top still
works, its just loose because a piece of plastic broke off.
