.url is not a valid win32 application - error message

My desktop shortcuts no longer work... I now receive the message "....url is
not a valid win32 application" Nothing has been changed to my knowledge.
Any idea how I can fix this. I am not an expert... more like a novice.

You can try a restore, or simply delete the icon and create a new one.

Then,you probably need the file association fix (see next post) or try a
restore.
