upgrading w98 to w2000

I can´t reach to install an upgrade fron w98 to w2000.
When I arrive to the step, after the rebooting, insert the
CD labeled as w2000 and press enter, nothing happens. It
seems that after the rebooting, it doesn´t recognize the
CD containing w2000. Previously the program has recognized
the installed programs, and when I think that all is
working properly, it happens what I have described.
I use an old Compaq Presario 1256 notebook, with the
original w98 provided by Compaq, with 96 MB of RAM.
