As I'm experiencing strange beheaviuor in my apps in the vbcode (Access 2003
+ SP1, .adp project) I was wondering if the VB engine could be updated
someway.

It states: Microsoft Visual Basic 6.3 - Version 9972 VBA: Retail 6.4.9972
Forms3: 11.0.6254

Any updates available?

That is the latest available version, as far as I know.
