Update Problem for version .614 Solved!!
This worked for me thanks to posts by:
"Tom Emmelot" <(E-Mail Removed)>
and Robin Walker
First confirm that you have version 1.0.614 by opening
your Help/About Microsoft Windows Antispyware (MAP) link
at the top of the MAP window.
Do search for gcUnCompress.dll in the C:\windows\system32
folder. It must be 93.2k and from version .614!! BE
CAREFUL WHEN YOU DELETE ANYTHING IN THIS FILE!!!
(The update problem seems to be caused because the old
gcUnCompress.dll - size 120 kb, version 1.1.0, was left
over from the previous version of MAP)
Delete the old gcUnCompress.dll. BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU
DELETE ANYTHING IN THIS FILE!!! (MAP must be closed for
this to delete)
You may also have to delete all your Internet temp
folders!
Then you must run MicrosoftAntiSpywareInstall.exe again
and choose repair!
(You may instead go to control panel - add or remove
programs and choose "Microsort AntiSpyware". Choose
the "Change" button, next, then choose "Update Microsort
AntiSpyware", then next and install.
The gcUnCompress.dll file you deleted in
C:\windows\system32 folder is there again, but now shows
it is 93.2k and from version .614.
Restart MAP
Then do the update! It should remember the updates every
time after this that you check for updates.
Good Luck
Greg
