I tried to install this update:

However, it failed. I got the following error:

"Code 80070012 / Windows Update encountered an unknown error."

Why is this?

During 2010, Microsoft cancelled its news server, resulting in this
newsgroup's <news:microsoft.public.windows.vista.installation_setup>
