all of a sudden the reports i generate are adding unwanted information. i
didn't program this, and really don't know how to get into the code... if
someone could show me how to open that up, i could tweak it....

what type of extra information, where does it appear?

Like with any report you should be able to open it in design mode and make
the changes you judge necessary. Give us some more specifics and we'll be
better able to guide you.
