First, try skipping the Startup menu. Type your account
and password, but hold the SHIFT key before you click OK.
Keep holding SHIFT until you reach your desktop; this
bypasses whatever is in the Start/Programs/Startup menu.
If you still get blown off, try doing a safe boot. If you
can log on after a safe boot, then check the
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run list
for any nasties.
