Unknown Devices in Dev Mgr

Win XP SP2, Dell Dimension 2350. I installed iTunes/iPod software about a
year ago, then uninstalled both after I had finished with them, and ever
since then I've had two unknown devices ( without driver ID ) in my Device
Manager. They are currently blocking all attempts at installing any new
hardware drivers. In Dev Mgr they are showing as being in
STORAGE\PARTITION. I can disable the second one no probs, but when I
disable/try to uninstal the first, I get the blue screen on reboot, and have
to reboot using last good configuration settings. I have removed all
traces of this software , including Apple/iPod Registry entries, as best I
can, and have tried everything at Microsoft's Article KB 314464, all to no
avail.

Does anyone have any experience of this? Sorry, but am just an average
user - no tekkie!

If you did not, try booting into Safe Mode, open device Maager and
delete/remove all the items you deem as not required; reboot and try Windows
again.
