Advice request...

Had 2 hard drives C (master) and F(slave). Windows XP loaded on C - and
F just as backup.
XP became corrupt so disconnected C and loaded XP onto F (new C) - all ok.
Have now reconnect the old C as slave.

What I want to do now is to uninstall windows XP from the old C and also
access and copy valuable data from old C.

Please advise how do I:-

Uninstall XP from old C?

Also, since I'm not exactly sure where the curruption is in XP and if
uninstalling it it will definitly uninstall EVERYTHING from XP - so thinking
about moving everything off old C and formatting it to be sure. Any comment
on
such proposed action?

If you've got your C hooked up as a slave, why not just copy the files from
it using your F drive Windows XP? Even although XP is corrupt, I don't see
why you couldn't get to the files.

Well, for Outlook Express, they are usually stored in a folder like:

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application
Data\Identities\{645C9413-A16F-472C-9EAF-8671723913BC}\Microsoft\Outlook
Express

....and for Internet Explorer favourites:

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Favorites

Download the trialware of Outlook Express Backup from Genie-Soft. It will
make a self extracting executable backup of your Outlook Express saved mail,
preferences, folder options, etc. It will do the same for IE (favorites,
etc.). You can save it to a separate partition, a cd, zip drive, etc. You
will have to install the program on your reformatted system in order to
restore the backup, after which you can remove it (or buy it). The trail
period is 30 days. They also have another program which will backup a lot
more, but you specifically said OE and IE.

Yes, thanks - and for OE great all details transfered from X to C - chuffed

With IE, however, bit of a prob...did this...
Open IE in C drive

Click file import and export

In Import and Export Wizard click next

Highlight Import favorites

Click next

Tick import from file or address

Browse to show X:\documents and settings\myname\favorites in Select window

and that shows, in Select Bookmark File...

Favorites in Save In window

All the Folders and files I wish to transfer in the Main Window

bookmark.htm in the File Name window

and HTML (*.htm *.html) in the Save as Type Window

Click Save

then in the Import/Export Wizard click Next

then get the dreaded Cannot find the X:\documents and
settings\myname\favorites\bookmark.htm please choose another file.

Am I missing something?
