Hello,

I am running into a very odd error. I am reinstalling
a box using the Windows 2000 Server CD. The server has
an Adaptec 2400A RAID controller. I hit F6 at the
beginning so I can install the RAID driver, but when it
reaches the point where I have to hit S to Specify
Additional Device I get the following error:

An expected error (0) occurred at
line 962 in D:\nt\private\ntos\boot\setup\oemdisk.c.

Press any key to continue.

I hit any key and it takes me back to where I hit S
again. I have no other options after that, I just keep
getting the same error. I have tried the installation
using three different Windows 2000 Server CDs, and two
different CD-ROM drives.

Does anyone else have any recommendations?

Do you have a LS-120 drive? LS-120 drives are drives that are connected to
a computer's IDE controller, Not the floppy controller. During text-mode
Setup, Windows 2000 Setup only recognizes a standard floppy disk drive as a
device for loading additional drivers. Enable the LS-120 in the BIOS.

Thank you for your reply. Currently there are three 73
GB hard drives that will be setup as RAID 5. They are
plugged directly into the Adaptec 2400A RAID controller.
The only other drive installed is a CD-ROM drive that I
plugged into the IDE0 slot on the motherboard for the
Win2k Installation CD. There is no floppy installed as I
have burned the drivers to a CD.

Also, I could not find any reference to LS-120 in the
BIOS setup.

Any other thoughts?

Since the case is open, I'll throw a floppy drive in as
just as a test. Could that be the cause of that error?
Have you seen that before by any chance?

Personally, I've never seen that, however, I did some
research into old cases seemed to indicate that setup was
looking for the drivers on the floppy. Let me know if
installing the floppy resolves your problem.

Daniel,

You were correct. I grabbed one floppy drive but the
BIOS didn't see it, so I grabbed another one and it was
detected. Then I tried the first disk that had the
drivers and got an error with one of the files. I re-
downloaded the drivers from Adaptec, and formatted a new
floppy. At that point I was able to get the driver
installe. Windows 2000 Server installation is finally
continuing.

The only other way that I know of is to add the SCSI device drivers in the
CD itself. there are way to do that using an unattented setup.
