Have 5 files I want to transfer from Computer B to Computer A, 4 of the
files will go
thru with no problems, 1 file that won't transfer comes back with error
message:

Unable to move "SONY\Transfer\share.txt" to "c:\Download\share.txt.
Access denied.
The file may be in use by another program, or you may not have sufficient
access rights.

Thanks,
Dick

Dick,

Either the source or target file is in use (open), or you have access problem
with the target.

I am guessing that all files are in the same folder? If you're using NTFS with
Advanced File Sharing, check the target folder and make sure that you didn't set
share permissions on the target file.

Check to see if either the source or target file is open. Look at (Control
Panel - Administrative Tools) - Computer Management - Shared Folders - Open
Files.

Cheers,
Chuck

Chuck,

Running Windows XP Home Edition w/SP2 on both computers, all files were in
same folder, I unchecked "Allow Network users to change my files", on both
computers, this seemed to do the trick, I can now Copy from both w/o any
error messages, this is all I really wanted to do.

Thanks for your time & attention.

Dick

Dick,

I dunno why unchecking an allow box would make things work for you, but if it
did it wouldn't be the first thing about Windows XP that confused me. Anyway,
I'm happy for you.

Thanks for the update.

Chuck,
I run Norton File Manger v. 95.0.c, aka Norton Navigator/PC Tools for most
of my file management, it changed its "Permissions" from "Change" to "Read",
with box checked it showed "Change" and I had all my problems with that
setting, with current setting, no problems.
