Once Upon A Time (on 1 Jun 2006 17:30:33 +0200), in alt.comp.freeware, "John

This is the _2nd_ time Majorgeeks (<http://www.majorgeeks.com/>) has jumped the
(proverbial) gun in announcing Firefox 1.5.0.4. Also Filehippo
(<http://www.filehippo.com/>) seems to have been dragged-along by Majorgeeks.

*When*, I wonder (for the 2nd time, at minimum!), are these software sites
going to get the idea thru their figurative heads, that glory goes not to those
who announce first (see "Microsoft", also "vaporware"), but to those which
avail potential-downloaders of an *actual* file?

After all, this isn't war** they are concerned with.

Perhaps, but I copied the link (Download Firefox, at
<http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/>)
<http://www.mozilla.com/products/download.html?product=firefox-1.5.0.3&os=win&lang=en-US>
to clipboard, then modded it slightly to read as
<http://www.mozilla.com/products/download.html?product=firefox-1.5.0.4&os=win&lang=en-US>.
And what was my end-result?

I was sent back to <http://www.mozilla.org/>, with no current (1.5.0.4)
download in sight :-(

Now where, in the above, did I imply you were an idiot?

As for you (and your rather-apparent attitude), John Jay, perhaps your
long-time usage of Outlook Express has addled your brain.

The Mozilla site hasn't been updated yet. I expect it'll be updated today.

Drat. Double-drat. So nice when a website shows updates before 3rd-party's get
ahold of them. Such, however, seems not to be standard-practice with
Mozilla/Forefox, anymore :-(
