UAC On and OFF

Hi,

I have a prograamme that will only work properly if UAC is off. I
would prefer to run with UAC on.

My question is. Will it do any harm, or will I be likely to have
problems, if I run with UAC on. Use my programme with UAC off, then
switch back to UAC on.

Thanks

You have posted this yesterday and have gotten answers. Can you please keep to your original post of yesterday. There is no need to post more than once.

Hi,

I am using a recording programme. It fails to record from the Internet
when UAC is on. But it records when UAC is off. I can't work out why?

Thanks for responding

Thanks for responding

The programme is called Freecorder.
It's an addon to IE 7

The installation went well.

There is no error as such.

The problem is this. Is should record from the Internet. When I press
the record button I get a horizontal line. This means that it is not
recording.

But if I switch off UAC, the programme records without a problem. I
believe that there is a problem associated with IE and its security
procedures.

Thanks again

best wishes.

S.

This could be something related to UAC virtualization (maybe impacted due to
how this tool works).

A) try running the UAC predictor toolkit on this to analyze if htere are
known compat issues
B) contact the manufacturer for a vista compat version or atleast
troubleshooting support

I did contact the manufacturer.

They realise that the programme only records with UAC off in Vista.
They have no current solution. I don't think they are working on it
either. I have looked for a substitute programme that works - so far
without success. the hunt continues.

Best wishes
