OK I have ben using computers now for nearly 8 years and constantly look for
problem tips at eventid.net. When I find a possible resolution to my problem
I keep seeing posts indicating that they have drilled down through this and
that to isolate the problem - for eg. This post says...

"With some help from Filemon from Sysinternals, I spotted that EMSMTA was
being called immediately before the log file was being written to. .....
After that focus it only took a few minutes of drilling down through every
leaf and examining every property panel to discover that Exchange IM was set
to use the absent anubis (the <computer name> in the event message in my
case) as its proxy".

My question is how do you troubleshoot at this level? How do you find out
that a certain something happened and how to resolve it??.

Any advice would be very nice.

regards,

stompin
