I have Windows ME but I cannot get a response to anything on my computer now.
I cannot even get on the internet to access anything to download that can
possibly help. I am on my Mom's computer. What can I do? I was told that I
may have to reformat or reload Windows which I guess would mean that I would
have to uninstall Windows but again, I can't acces anything not even the
Add/Remove section on the Control Panel. Any suggestions. Can I put something
on a disk from my mother's computer then put it on mine?

Here's a fix for PSGuard and smitfraud infectiºn

Copy the next part to notepad if needed so you can still view it in safe mºde:


Use Smitrem and Ewido (Smitrem to remove PSGuard and related Trojan files if
they exist plus perform a disk cleanup & Ewido to check for any other
prºblems)

Download Smitrem to your desktºop

Run the installer and then press Start to Extract the files to the desktop,
Do not run it yet.


Download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here

Install ewidº.
During the installation, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install
background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
Launch ewidº
On the left side of the main screen click updªte
Click on Start and let it updªte.
DO NOT run a scan yet.

Reboot into safe mode (Reboot and keep tapping F8 then choose safe mode from
the list)

Run SmitRem

Open the SmitRem folder and double click the "RunThis" file to start the
tool , Follow the prompts on screen. Wait for the tool to complete and disk
cleanup to finish.

Next Run Ewidº

From the main menu click scanner then Complete system scan, During the scan
it will prompt you to clean files, click "Remove" for anything detected

Finally reboot back into normal mºde

You will need to reload your wallpaper as the SmitRem tool will reset it,
you can do this by right clicking desktop and choosing properties, First
check Theme and set it to Windows XP then click the Desktop tab and choose
the one you want to use and press apply,

Let us know if you have any prºblems

Hi, I'm wondering if I can download this to a disk and then run it on my
computer. I cannot get to anything on my computer to download what I need.
I am writing this from a different computer that doesn't have a problem.

Will I be able to use this on my computer? The computer that I'm on now does

The short answer is yes... if you're prepared to do some work. This is NOT
going to be a one click easy fix, and in fact you just might be better off
reformatting your hard disk and doing a clean install of Windows due to your
current lack of internet connectivity. God knows that's not easy either...
(lol), but then you'd have to reinstall all your applications, settings, and
you'd loose all your stored data, unless you have backups... bet not huh? So
anyway it's your choice, but yes, you should be able to download to your Mom's
machine, copy programs and/or signature updates to CD/DVD and install to your
own machine off that drive, again it might take some work. See if you can
access a data CD on your broken PC right now... that might be a good first step,
if you can't access it there are probably ways around even that minor glich...
When you do get it fixed... Make sure you keep your Microsoft updates
up-to-date. That's one way lots of this garbage gets through. Install an
Antivirus and an Anti-spyware application you need both... there are free ones!
See if an computer knowledgeable friend will be willing to help you initially,
cause right now you really do need all the help you can get.
