You don't need a USB hub to connect two computers using the Laplink
Gold cable. A USB hub isn't a networking device -- it lets you
connect multiple USB devices to a one USB port on one computer.
That cable will work with the File and Settings Transfer if, and only
if, Windows ME and Windows XP recognize it as a network adapter. To
see, look in Control Panel | Network (ME) and in Network Connections
(XP).
If it doesn't work, you can connect the two computers directly to each
other using a crossover cable between their Ethernet jacks. A regular
Ethernet cable won't work.
