I just flipped a file server from a Compaq DL380 G2 [dual PIII] to a DL580
quad Xeon and saw the sustained file transfer speed go from 6.25MB/sec
[DL380] to 8.65MB/sec [Xeon] on a 100Mbs Ethernet. The transfer speed from
folder to folder on the same array [spanned volume] was measured at
35MB/sec.
It is too bad that they're pricey b/c they do make a difference.
