Hi,

got a problem with my target PC filling up drive with /documents and
settings/user/LocalSetting/temp/ *.tmp files.

They are very large about 5MB each, and hence a problem as I am running CF.

Where do these tmp files come from , and why are they never delete ?

The targe machine is when tested often swithced off without shutting down
XP, as this will be done by customers for sure, maybe this is the problem ?

From my understanding (hopefully I'm not too far off track), .tmp files are
used to store automatic saves done by some applications and can also be used
to store properties and appearances of some applications. My guess is that
when the system is switched off without shutting down, upon the next boot
up, the system detects that this has happened and starts writing .tmp files
to save the state of the system right from boot up in case the system isn't
shut down properly. If a switch off without shutdown is done again, it has
somewhere to get data from. Just my guess.
