new I am working on a slide show and every time I add a picture or a video
clip between two other clips or pictures, the picture titles get
repositioned. Is there a way to lock the location/position of the titles (in
timeline mode) with their corresponding pictures or video clips. I am getting
tired to reposition the titles every time I insert a new picture somewhere in
the middle of the slide show project I am working on.

Please help

No unfortunately there isn't.
I always recommend adding the titles and adjusting everything for timing
last after all images/clips have been added.

I apologise for piggy backing on this post but I cant work out to start a new
thread. You say, “adjust” but how do you do that. I have just about learnt
how to add titles to the photographs on a slide show but they appear in
running along the middle of the photograph. Can you advise?

Hi Brian
You can't change where the title shows on your picture but instead need to
choose a different title from the list.
I will take you through the process Step-by-Step as that will probably be
easiest.
1) Select the clip you want to add the title over
2) Click "Make titles or credits" in the tasklist on the left or click
Tools -> Titles and credits
3) Click "add title on the selected clip"
This brings you to the main title page
4) Add the text you want to appear in the title
5) Click "Change the title animation"
Here is where you will find the list of titles that are available. Go
through the list and click on the different titles and they will play in the
preview screen to show you what each one looks like.
6) Choose the title you want to use and click to select it
7) Click "Change the text font and color"
8) Change the font, size, colors to whatever you prefer
9) Click "Done, add title to movie"
The title will appear on the timeline in the Title Overlay section. Here you
can adjust the position and length simply by clicking and dragging.
Hope that helps you out.

Many thanks for such an easy to follow answer. Now all I have to do is to
work out how to get the fininshed slide show onto a DVD because I'm sure that
I read somewhere on the forum that it is a problem. Many thanks again.

Actually it is not really difficult at all if you have decent software.
See the "DVD Creation" section of my website for a list of programs.
One thing I will tell you though is that if you are working only with still
images, music, and transitions then don't save it as a DV-AVI but instead as
a high quality NTSC video, with still imaging the results are better with
this format. Then import that into your authoring program and create your
DVD.
