Default Oh and if you need to get rid of the spyware...

Use ad-aware to get rid of the spyware stuff. Spy sherrif dont get rid of it. it just screws up your background. just google search ad-aware. It deleted all 90 files of spyware on my comp!!!

To remove the desktop.html and restore you wall paperif infected by SpySheriff, open REGEDIT, and browse to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENT VERSION\POLICIES\SYSTEM and remove the Wallpaper entry, also broswe to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENT VERSION\THEMES and remove the Wallpaper entry.

THis will restore you "Browse" button and allow you to choose your wallpaper once again.

Be sure to follow the other removal process's to complete the removal of SpySheriff, this should be done after you complete the above removal process.

I still had the after effects of spysherrif when i got rid of those registry files.
But alas i deleted everything out of my temp files, ran avast... and now I'm a free man.
Ad-aware/Microsoft Spyware/Spybot seek and destroy did nothing to help me... they never do anymore.

Check Thread #14 (remove Wallpaper settings in Regedit) It worked for me.
PS I am upset at the creator of Spy Sherrif

I'm encountering the same problem on my computer. I've tried everything suggested and yet nothing has worked. As well, when I tried that 'Kelly' link, and attempt to open the Display on my computer, a window pops-up reading 'This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions on this computer. Please contact your systems operator.' And, just to set the record I am a total technology illiterate. Please, please would someone try to explain what's going on and how to solve it? I'd be much obliged!

I did two things and now I can change my wallpaper again. Sorry, I'm not sure which one worked.

I installed this program to change wallpapers:
http://www.worldstart.com/tips/tips.php/312

I also edited my registry as instructed here:
http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=681646

I think it was the second option that allowed me to change my background again.
