First attempt at using MM2 with new Sony DCRHC20E camcorder but find capture
process grinds to a halt and painfully slow. Get as far as choose file name then video setting (click DV-AVI for trans back to tape) then after ages box says "the device is not responding close any application that is using the device" there are no other programmes running although Picture Package keeps poping up uninvited which I have to click to close. Other times it tells me there is no tape in the device when there is !! Have turned off the USB streaming on camera and disconnected the USB cable. There is 37 GB hard disk space free. Why is everything so very slow - a couple of minutes between clicks, and why is the capture not working ? It seems a great programme if it would only work. What else can I check ? Have spent hours on this. Please help someone. -- Eileen |

You are using firewire to capture your digital video, aren't you?

Yes - just installed it and checking control panel there is no indication to
say it isn't working correctly. Can Moviemaker be uninstalled then downloaded again ? can't see how to do it. I had Nero and an old Roxio programme but uninstalled them asthey were slow also. Any clue there ? help appreciated "Cari (MS-MVP)" wrote: > You are using firewire to capture your digital video, aren't you? > -- > Cari (MS-MVP) Windows Client - Printing/Imaging and Hardware > www.coribright.com > > "Eileen" <eileen@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:9DB8E7DC-6494-4E45-BE16-CDC9AB4FC886@microsoft.com... > > First attempt at using MM2 with new Sony DCRHC20E camcorder but find > > capture > > process grinds to a halt and painfully slow. Let's try a deeper diagnosis..... first disconnect the camcorder completely.
Reboot the PC. Connect the camcorder to the A/C power and then connect firewire to camcorder and to PC. Ensure camcorder is not connected to PC with any other cables. Turn camcorder on and in VCR mode. You should hear a 'ding' sound from the PC confirming connection. A box should pop up asking what you would like to do.... choose capture via MovieMaker... Now tell us what happens next! -- Cari (MS-MVP) Windows Client - Printing/Imaging and Hardware www.coribright.com "Eileen" <eileen@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:E39899E6-EDAC-4854-BC54-4C80F5274048@microsoft.com... > Yes - just installed it and checking control panel there is no indication > to > say it isn't working correctly.
