I have completed a project and, as usual, I check it on preview before I save
as Movie. The timeline keeps freezing at various points, while the preview keeps playing and when I try to stop it, it doesn’t respond. I need to sort this out before saving to tape and to dvd. Any ideas please? |

Hello,
Does your project contain any of the following... 1) MPG files 2) MP3 files 3) JPeg Stills 4) A text message with no text or just a single space If any of the above then do the following... 1) Convert to AVI format 2) Convert to WAV format 3) Convert to BMP (Bitmap) format 4) Use any image editor and create a small picture of the desired single colour and use that instead of a blank text message If your problem is none of the above can you give a complete description of equipment in use along with what software you have...Service Pack 2 etc and a description of the contents of your project file. You should also ensure that you have the latest drivers for your graphics card, that you have the latest service pack and DirectX drivers installed -- Best Wishes.....John Kelly www.the-kellys.org www.the-kellys.co.uk Check out free video hosting at www.the-kellys.org ---- \|||/ (oo) ----------ooO-(_)-Ooo------------- All material gained from other sources is duly acknowledged. Is it always a different point? What files are on the timeline? Pictures if
so which sort (jpeg) video (avi) music (Mp3). How long is the movie? How much free space do you have? What are the pc specs? Do a defrag before saving, turn off all unrequired apps, inc internet/firewall/anti-virus etc. HAve a read of www.papajohn.org adn see problem solving > cannot save a movie. -- Graham Hughes MVP Digital Media www.dvds2treasure.com www.simplydv.com "Denis" <Denis@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:08F52435-4DC0-4E8D-ACE6-46910C21CFBA@microsoft.com... > I have completed a project and, as usual, I check it on preview before I save > as Movie. Thank you John
The freezing is at random points. Overall the computer is proving very slow. My project covers a holiday movie. It is 35mins long. The file size is 14,2504,080bytes. It comprises some 400 clips as well as various MM2 transitions and effects. The project was captured as ”.avi” . I have inserted various photos as “.jpg” and music clips as “.wma” and “.mp3”. I have one clip as “.au”. I do not have any blank text messages and 3 single colour clips as “.wmv”. How do I convert the various clips to the correct formats? I am using Windows XP Service Pack 2, with MM2.1 My hard disc has a capacity of 114 Gb. I have used, including this project, 22 Gb and have 92 Gb free. Where do I check for the graphics drivers and Direct X. For info over the past 12 months or so I have successfully completed 3 projects of about I hour each with an equal variety of formats as well as narrations. Hope this helps your analysis. Many thanks for your assistance. Hello there,
I am having a problem reading some of your text. With respect to the speed, I would imagine its because you have 400 clips. That would involve a large project file hence the slow down. To convert still images you need to import each still into your favorite editor and then use the save as option to save as a BMP You do not need to convert WMV or WMA files To convert MP3 files use a program like audacity or MusicMatch (links on my website) and again import the file and then use the Save-As or Export-As option to create a WAV file. The best overall advice would be to break the project into smaller projects, compile each of those into the DV-AVI format and finally import each of those into one new project and save the result into whatever format you need. You really need to do this as it will enable the computer to process much faster and it will also enable an easier identification of a problem file. So even though I am having problems with the text of your message I hope the above helps...Do please ask again if I have not covered something properly. -- Best Wishes.....John Kelly www.the-kellys.org www.the-kellys.co.uk Check out free video hosting at www.the-kellys.org ---- \|||/ (oo) ----------ooO-(_)-Ooo------------- All material gained from other sources is duly acknowledged.
