I have made a movie using my USB 2.0 connection with my JVC miniDV but the
resolution on the DVD is very poor. How do you get a better picture on the DVD ? Should I buy a firewire card and cable? |

Yes you should buy a firewire card. This would allow you to capture in DV
AVI format in Movie Maker which is the best resolution capture you can make in MM However the quality on DVD would also be affected by your choices in other steps of DVD Video making. (See my faq for an overview of these steps: http://rehanfx.org/faq.htm). Particularly you should consider: 1. Not use effects and transitions in MM unnecessarily. 2. Output in DV AVI from MM after editing 3. Use a high quality MPEG2 encoder such as Procoder or TMPGenc (with 2 pass vbr encoding) -- Rehan www.rehanfx.org - get more effects and transitions for movie maker "EdboyPA" <EdboyPA@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:A5C97025-9A4D-4436-A943-A7899794DE16@microsoft.com... >I have made a movie using my USB 2.0 connection with my JVC miniDV but the > resolution on the DVD is very poor. Hello there,
Yes, Firewire is intended for capture of Video and although USB 2 has a slightly higher data rate it is only meant to be used with still images etc..Its because USB apparently can not sustain its high data rate. Once you have the firewire up and running you should be able to capture in the DV-AVI format which is as good as it gets with domestic equipment. -- Best Wishes.....John Kelly www.the-kellys.org www.the-kellys.co.uk \|||/ (o o) ----------ooO-(_)-Ooo------------- All material gained from other sources is duly acknowledged.
