Hi Zachary,
Could I get some additional information from you? What version of XP SP2 are you using and what Firewire device are you recording from? Thanks, Lisa Campbell-Smith [MS] "Zachary Burns" <Zachary Burns@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:3B6E9058-2B2B-4494-A4B3-69F920DECE02@microsoft.com... >I upgraded to XP SP2 and I used to hit Record and was able to record the > video coming from my Firewire device, now stepping through the wizard, I > cannot get it to record (says there is no tape in the camera), and I'm not > using a camera. |

Lisa,
I've downloaded and installed the release published for IT Professionals and Developers on August 9th from the MSDN website. According to the Properties in Windows XP Pro it just says "Service Pack 2" is there another way to tell. Also the device is the Hollywood DV Bridge. This device converts S-Video to Firewire data and worked fine before SP2. Any other information I can provide, let me know. Hello both,
I have applied SP2 for networks to my machines. The Ctrl-R option still works here. My About box now says Version 5.1(Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158 : Service Pack 2) and Version 2.1.4026.0 for Movie Maker. There is one problem. The machine I am using at this moment has a number of codecs known to be a problem with MM. The option within MM2.1 for switching off those codecs for MM is blank !!! There are no codecs (why do they call them filters?) listed....its completely blank. Best Wishes.....John Kelly www.the-kellys.org www.the-kellys.co.uk "Zachary Burns" <zacharyburns@hotsmail.com> wrote in message news:%23oKqAIHgEHA.3612@TK2MSFTNGP12.phx.gbl... > Lisa, > > I've downloaded and installed the release published for IT Professionals > and Developers on August 9th from the MSDN website. John,
I've got the same information as you (version numbers match on both products). I'll try the Ctrl-R option tonight and let you know the results. Thanks for the information. I have turned off the security features in favour of those already on the machines. The one option I was looking forward to seeing was where certain Codecs could be turned off. The dialog for that is empty. I guess we will here more in time about what it is supposed to do.....the help file for MM2.1 contains no reference to filter or codec....which is a little worrying!!! -- Best Wishes.....John Kelly www.the-kellys.org www.the-kellys.co.uk --- All material gained from other sources is duly acknowledged. Zack,
Can you get hold of a digital cam to try and see if it works? Thanks for the information, I will see if I can get my hands on the
Hollywood DV and try to reproduce your problem and get back to you. Hi Zarchary,
I've just tested the Hollywood DV bridge against the version of Movie Maker in the final release of Windows XP Service Pack 2, and it does work. If you download the release when it becomes available, you should be able to capture again.
