Default Compatibility

Hi

I'm connecting my Sony DCR-IP5 MicroMV digital movie
camera via the 1394 cable to my HP Pavilion laptop.
It 'pings' to suggest it knows it's there, but that's
about it. Nothing else happens and if I go to My Computer
there isn't anything there (don't know that there should
be) Any thoughts please ?

Bob,

See the info at the top of the Digital Camcorders > Sony page of my site.
The MicroMV camcorders produce MPEG-2 files which MM2 can't work with....
You need to use the software that came with it to convert it for MM2 use.

Thanks Papajohn

Got up early to dash off to golf for the day, but just a
quickie to say thanks for getting back to me and I'll
check it out later.

However, I'm not sure that's the complete answer
(probably mine wansn't a complete question either) as
originally I was trying to download using cSwing golf
analysis software and that didn't recognise the camera
via the 1394 firewire connection.

I was able to download using a USB connection previously
with no problem (except perhaps it was slower) but I
can't even get the computer to recognise that there's a
camera connected.

In cSwing it says if that happens it could be a known
problem with DirectX and restarting computer or turning
camera off then on might help. It didn't !

Thanks again for your help

All the best

Bob
