TMPGEnc will do it... free to MPEG1 for VCDs and a 30 day trial period for
MPEG2 for SVCDs and DVDs. There's a link on my Setup > Software page in the Utilities section. -- PapaJohn Movie Maker 2: www.papajohn.org PhotoStory 2: www.photostory.papajohn.org .. .. There is a free version but it only lets you work with small amounts of memory. I have tmpg too and it is ok, but VCD EASY doesn't have the problems that some software does with Driver conflicts. And it also has free upgrades once you but the first version. I use tmpg to do the SVCD header trick on VCD's and VCD EASY has a easy to use help page that walks your through everything. Jim |

Hello there,
Yes there are a lot of programs around, but there is a problem. Its all to do with copyright and the MPeg standard. It seems that there is some kind of grace period where you can use such software and after that period you have to pay for a licence so that you can continue using it. I don't know the name of it which is a pity, there is a free MPeg encoder available. I am not sure whether it is just the codec or the program that can use that codec. On my website click on GREAT LINKS > KNOWLEDGE BASE > VIDEO HELP and search there for tools to do your job. If that free codec is not there then you can expect to have limited usage available to you (Untill you pay that is) from whatever other software you choose If you do come across the free one, do let us all know. I am certain that quite a few people will be quite pleased about it. -- Best Wishes.....John Kelly www.the-kellys.org www.the-kellys.co.uk --- All material gained from other sources is duly acknowledged.
