Default Effects In Saved WMM Project

I saved the movie that I created in avi. format, but when
I try to record it to my camcorder..Sony DCRTRV460 I
loose all the effects that I've added, such as page curls,
transitions, etc. All I get is the audio/video. The effects
is what makes the movie special. Any
suggestions??...Please help!!!

Try saving the DV-AVI file to your hard drive, and then copying it to your
camcorder with the WinDV utility (link on my Digital Camcorders > Intro
page).

You can then check the DV-AVI file on your drive to be sure it has
everything before copying it.... I don't understand why the special
transitions and effects wouldn't be in the rendered file.

I'm also using the Sony DCRTRV460 and have approached the problem in two
ways. Going from MM2 directly to camera resulted in lost or moving effects
and transitions. Both methods below use WinDV (free program) from
http://windv.mourek.cz/

1. I save several segments as DV-AVI to my hard drive. Then use WinDV to
record them to my Sony via FireWire one at a time. WinDV does have
an AVI joining function by using wildcards but I have not tested this yet.
The problems I've had here is it takes a second or two for the recording
process to start so you lose the first few seconds. I add a 5 second black
jpg file in MM2 at the beginning of each segement which seems to eliminate
the problem for now but still makes it cumbersome if you have many AVI files
to handle.

2. Save several segments as DV-AVI to my hard drive and join them with
VirtualDub a free program from http://www.virtualdub.org/ Then use WinDV
to record them to my Sony via FireWire. This seems more complicated, and it
is, as you have to convert your AVI files from Type 2 to type 1 for
VirtualDub to be able to handle them. I used Ulead DV Converter, another
free program from http://www.ulead.com/download/dvconverter/download.htm
Then you have to go through the obtaining CODEC issues to get VirtualDub to
work.

VirtualDub is very powerful with a variety of features. For me it was worth
getting it to work as I will be using it in the future.

Good luck

Rich
