Default DV device not recognized

Sony GV-D1000 deck connected to movie maker 2. When I do
this, I can't capture via the "vcr conrols" in movie
maker2 (they don't appear). I have to manually hit the
play on the sony deck and select capture from within
movie maker 2. Is there a driver I need to control the
sony deck in movie maker 2?

My version of movie maker 2 runs great when connected to
a variety of dv cameras.
