firewire pls help

I have installed my firewire card which my PC tells me has installed. I
have also bought a new DV cam with DV out and In.

My PC wont pick up the cam whatsoever when I attach it via the firewire
port.
Is there somethjing wrong with the Firewire card or Cam?
What can I Do
