Default MM2 stops recording after 28 seconds

When I try to capture from a Panasonic DV camera, MM2 records for only 28 seconds (or so) and will not continue recording. The time clock keeps moving, but the file size remains unchanged. I have set the time limit to 2 hours. Does anybody have anyt idea why this might be happening?

Jim,

Do a test capture with the WinDV utility - link on the Digital Camcorders >
Intro page of www.papajohn.org and see if you experience the same thing.

Good link there, wish I'd found it before! I had a similar problem, except
that after about 20-30 seconds, it would tell me that I had unplugged my DV
device (a "Dazzle Hollywood DV-Bridge" which I use for getting old tape into
the machine). I found that MGI Videowave seems a robust way to capture the
source, then just import into MM2. Additionally, I found the following
worked:
http://snipurl.com/51bi which suggests trying
http://www.unibrain.com/evaluations/firenet.htm
which kind of suggests the problem lies half with the Dazzle and half with
MM2, in that MM2 capture from the Dazzle when using Firenet, and MGI manages
to capture without using Firenet. Strange.
