laptop freeze !!!!

I got my ibm laptop connect with my JVC camcorder with IEEE1394 PC card slot, everything's fine, detected and connected with laptop. When I'm trying to capture movie with movie maker, problem starts when movie capture starts. Whole laptop freeze and can only restart by unpluging battery and electricity source

Somebody please help and let me know where possibly goes wrong??

What are the specs on your computer? Capture can be a very disk, CPU, and
memory intensive process. Does this happen when you try to capture to a
low bitrate 320x240 wmv or just AVI?
