Default system crash handling video files

My system crashes (mouse movement included) when handling
DVAVI after importing from a camcorder. It is impossible
to render o save the work to the harddisk (available 60
Gb).
This happens either working with Media player 2 or with
Ulead Studio 5.0.
I returned my computer to the seller but.. reading the
posts in this site I suspect it is not a computer's fault.
What do you think ?

P.S. My system is ECS MBoard KT 600-A U133 DDR with CPU
AMD ATHLON XP 2.6 + GHZ 333 SKA and GeForce FX5200

Thank You

TG

Default Re: system crash handling video files

i believe that the graphic card is overheating. It is a good
asumption and I am currently testing out that theory on one of my
colleagues computer. The graphics card is a nice card, yet i would
test out this theory by placing a good fan or two to cool down the
geforce fx5200 while u run these files and see if it crashes... there
might be some other hardware conflict that could be easily fixed.
going one by one through each hardware would be best i believe (yet
tedious).
