I capture video from my NTSC DV camera, edit it in Moviemaker 2, output a
NTSC DV-AVI file, import it into Roxio DVD Builder and burn NTSC DVD's without any problems. I want to create a few PAL DVD's to send to India. Can I use the same DV-AVI files I created above, import into DVD Builder, toggle the Preferences to PAL in DVD Builder and burn PAL DVD's? Or will I have to regenerate my source AVI's in PAL versions of DV-AVI files? Some have suggested that because of differences in frame rate and resolution, I should re-generate my AVI's in the PAL format. If the source is NTSC (my DV camcorder), should I switch MM2 to PAL format a) before capturing from camcorder or b) before final rendering by MM2? Thanks. -- Aloke ---- to reply by e-mail remove 123 and change invalid to com |

I asked a friend who makes PAL DVDs from time to time for family, he says
" Tape is NTSC DV. Capture as NTSC DV (or WMV). Edit in Movie Maker. Save out as Windows Media Video (the profiles are all deinterlaced). Burn a PAL DVD using this source file. " If that doesn't work, (maybe your DVD app doesn't take WMV) bring the WMV file into Movie Maker, change MM to PAL and save it back out as a PAL DV AVI file. Now try burning that. i.e. To do frame rate and size conversion you need to deinterlace first, MM does this whenever you create a WMV file.
