Default Capture Size (revisited)

Hi

A Few days ago Caarlos reported a problem that when capturing a movie that
hit 4Gb in Fat32 then recording stopped.

My system is currently formatted to fat32 and I have also hit the same
error. Does anybody have there disk formatted to NTFS and is able to
capture video greater than 4gb?

Regards
Simon

Hi there,

Yes, I am using NTFs and have three files captures at the moment, the
smallest is just over 13GB and the largest is a little under 15GB

ok, maybe I should learn not to rush in when I have a problem

It would appear that fat32 has a "file size" limit of 4Gb even though your
can format the drive to what ever size.

I beleive that NTFS does not have this file size limit.

Anyway I have just converted my drive to NTFS so within 14minutes of
re-capturing I will know if I am right or wrong(again)

Hi Simon,

Wait till the new version of XP/NT comes out...me thinks there will be some
fun then. I am told the new version is scrapping the file system as we know
it and will be replacing it with a database centric operation which will be
more in keeping with "Distributed Computing". I have no real problem with
that...as such. But in my many years of dealing with Microsoft
Databases.....well, I have not yet found one that did not at some time or
other fall over.....I just hope they are going to give us a reliable way of
recovering the data (which are your files)

Ok looks like that was the problem and me being an MCSE should have known
that, guess that was not a good advert for microsoft engineers!!!.

Is the file system that your talking about the active directory where
basically you store information over many servers?, anyway thats one for
another day.

Thanks every once for there fast response

Simon
