Default ATI AIW Device already in use

This seems to be mentioned again and again in this
newsgroup:
When I try to capture from the analog video of my ATI AIW
128 PRO, I get the error message "Device already in use".
Capture from DV works fine.
I closed / uninstalled all other potential users i.e. ATI
Multimedia center..
Even after a fresh reboot without anything else running I
get the same error.
Capturing analog with ATI MMC works and also with MGI
tools, so I would rule out a hardware setup problem - it's
just Movie Maker that doesn't work.
I also noticed that there is a high trafic rate on my
ethernet connection as soon as I open the Movie Maker
(yes, I have checked for virusses.).
Anyone knows help beyond what I already tried?
Hans
