Will not recognize Sony Digital 8 Handycam

Brand new to this, please help.
When I start Windows Movie Maker and go to File, Capture
video and then video capture device I get an icon of a
video camera labeled SMRT Capture. It appears that it
does not recognize my Sony Digital 8 Handycam. I've tried
the anloque cords as well as a S video cable. Clicking
next to video settings and then next again I get "Windows
Movie Maker had encountered a problem"

I believe the code is OXCoooooo5
What am I doing wrong?
