please help me

i just got a brand new computer with windows xp
i have clicked the button so that the taskbar will hide
inactive icons but it doesn't hide them
does anyone know why it won't hide the inactive icons and
how i can fix this?
please help me

right click taskbar, click properties, on the bottom right is a button
called "customise"...go there and tell xp which icons you want to
hide......i think you posted to the wrong group though
