Default Remote Assistance can't find program to run

For a year Remote Assistance worked fine. Then it suddenly stopped finding
the program needed to run when I received a request for assistance. The
request comes with an icon for RCBuddy.MsRcIncident plus a number. When it
asks for a program to run this, the list I get lacks Help and Support, which
seems to be what it's looking for. Using Folder Options I make sure that
Help and Support is associated with MsRcIncident files but to no avail. The
request for help won't run and the programs I am offered lack the one I need
(Help and Support) and have made arrangements for in Folder Options. What
next?

Default Re: Remote Assistance can't find program to run

Some old threads suggest this could be an issue with some email clients (not Outlook or Outlook
Express) renaming the file by appending a version number to the end.

Try removing the number extension.
